Spring has Sprung
Even though we’re in Albuquerque and still getting snow at least once a week — high desert you know — it is March. And as March offers up the occasional 70º day, it’s obvious that spring is finally here! So it’s a great time to remind you that there’s nothing quite as nice as sitting outside on a warm spring afternoon enjoying an ice cold, freshly made, horchata. And one of our two Taco Cabana Open-Kitchen Locations is the perfect place to do just that.
You may or may not know that we have outdoor seating on our spacious patios. Well, it just so happens we also have horchata. And it’s not from a mix! Don’t know what horchata is? It’s a Mexican drink that was originally brought over by the Spaniards. A milky looking beverage made with rice and flavored with cinnamon. If you’ve never had it, you do not know what you’re missing! So stop in… grab a glass, and sit outside for a relaxing, delicious, mid-afternoon treat.

I’m from New Jersey originally, and until recently Mexican food in NJ consisted of Taco Bell® and Chilis®
So when my good friends in Arizona stopped at the local taco stand to cool off I had no idea what to think.
That first horchata experience was in Tucson, on a particularly blazing summer afternoon. Seemed a little strange to me to cool off with a ‘milky’ beverage, but I’ll try anything once. And I’ve craved them ever since.
Guess that makes me pretty lucky to be in Albuquerque, where I found these Two Taco Cabana Open-Kitchen locations (who make it fresh everyday) are just a couple blocks away.
